Were you afraid during the Cold War?
"People were fearful because they didn't know who they could trust, the Russian were playing games and lying all the time."
Do you remember hearing about the CIA or KGB?
"There was a lot of propaganda against the KGB, the depicted them as war mongers so they could keep people fearful."
Did you hear about communism a lot?
"Yes, all the time, people would constantly spread rumors of communist factions that were going to attack America."
Was there anyone that made you feel secure and safe?
"President Truman, I believe he was the best president we ever had, he understood how to run the country and he tried to keep the best possible relations between countries."
Was there talk of nuclear bombing?
"People tried not to talk about nuclear bombs because they didn't want to scare others or themselves, But Truman was strong enough to make the right decision like when we bombed Hiroshima."
Do you think nuclear war could still happen?
"There are some countries that want to prove how strong they think they are and might try to shoot of nuclear bombs but most people and countries are aware of the devastation caused by nuclear bombs. And we the stronger countries are keeping tabs on smaller countries that might try to prove something like North Korea."
What should we learn from the Cold War?
"We should learn to understand one another and get along, we should learn each others cultures and find similarities that will help us embrace each other and look past the differences. We have to do this or we will destroy this world fighting each other with the weapons we have created."
